Scout Knot Master
Scout Knot Masters wear a purple rope.
There are six knots and skills which must be demonstrated for this level:
- bowline on a bight
- draw hitch / highwayman’s hitch
- Alpine butterfly
- double sheet bend
- Prusik
- bowline while blindfolded
Why do you have to tie a bowline while blindfolded? You may need to tie a knot in the dark or after you have lost your glasses. Also, not all Scouts can see as well as others, so this challenge lets you experience what tying a knot is like for them. As an extra challenge, finish this challenge using only one hand.
